DIY Tennis Ball Dispenser

Tennis coaches often hand-toss the balls to the students at a very slow pace to help them work on the correct form and technique. A CVMake member built this machine to automate that task.

Watch the YouTube video on how it operates.

Machine Specs:

  • Ball capacity: 40 balls
  • Battery life: 8 hours
  • Feed intervals: 2, 3, 5 seconds and customizable
  • Control: local button or phone app for remote control

Here are the parts needed:

  • ESP32 Microcontroller
  • Door threshold
  • Stepper motor
  • Spiral basket
  • 12V battery
  • Tripod with quick-release connector
  • 3D printed parts

The next part of this project is to make a little robot to run around the court to pick up tennis balls automatically!
